Joel Thomazin is a recent case and I don’t usually like to include these in our database but I feel it’s important in this case. My research suggests a direct link to another missing person in the same area. James Youngblom was a Professor at Stanislaus State and was found dead on the 25th June 2021 at LeConte Falls.
LeConte Falls is just a few miles from where Joel Thomazin was last seen but what’s interesting is on Joel Thomazin’s Linked In Profile it states he’s a Sonora Union High graduate and Stanislaus State alumnus. Two people, same University. One dead, one missing within 3 months. Now, this has got my attention.
Joel Thomazin was hiking solo in the Yosemite National Park. He was last seen on September 6th 2021 starting on his hike in the Hetch Hetchy area. He had planned to hike from Hetch Hetchy to Lake Eleanor. Thomazin was 5 feet, 10 inches tall with brown-coloured hair. He had a Kelty brand yellow and gray backpack, green sleeping bag, bright red inflatable kayak, blue/green hammock and wore tan or blue zip-off pants. Joel was married to wife Amanda Thomazin.
At least 16 National Park search and rescue crew members were looking for Joel along with a search dog. Tuolumne County search and rescue was also to join the search, which includes a helicopter, kayaks and a boat. None of Joel’s personal items has been found and the hunt for Joel continues.
