Who Was Peter Jackson?
Peter Jackson was a 74‑year‑old, 5'10", 155‑pound man in excellent physical condition. He had no known medical issues and was an experienced hiker who routinely completed 5‑mile day hikes without difficulty.
He was staying at White Wolf Campground, site #58, and had paid for his campsite through September 21st, 2016.
The last confirmed contact with Peter was on September 17th, when he texted his son to say he was on his way to Yosemite.
At some point after arriving, Peter is believed to have gone on a day hike—and never returned.
He was thought to be carrying a royal blue Outdoor Products day pack, which was not found at his campsite.
Search Efforts
Search and rescue teams began looking for Peter shortly after he was reported missing. By October 2nd, the search was downgraded to limited continuous—meaning active field operations had ceased, but any new clues would still be investigated.
No trace of Peter Jackson has ever been found.
